Diana Jost
I’m on this planet earth for half a century now and I finally get to terms with the idea that there is a bigger reason behind every being to be here right now. More and more I want to understand what the universe has planned for me, so I can let go of whatever does not serve my calling and so that I can move more effortlessly through life.
I believe that the 30 years of practicing yoga has helped me to ground, to center, to soften, to open, to listen and to connect to the universal law of truth. Yoga has been my main tool to fine – tune my physical, emotional, mental and spiritual body .. and it has also become my main profession to help others fine-tuning. I’m teaching yoga since 20 years, the magic of Vijñāna Yoga since 10 years…and that’s when things really started to shift :-)
Other tools that tune me up are dancing, singing, playing accordion and sitting around a campfire with a group of women. I love the combination of a disciplined practices (like yoga) together with the creativity in dance and music where I can express myself fully, let life freely dance though me and tune myself up to the chords of the universe.
So, I’m a yogi, a dancer, a musician, a teacher, a space holder, I hold women’s circles and relationship circles, I’m a mother to a son, a sister, a dog mama and a good friend to many. I have a strong interest in connection with other humans or animals. I’m more or a listener than a talker and perceive others more through feelings than through words.
I was born and raised in the swiss alps, but have always had very itchy feet, wanting to travel, to explore, to meet and share with other cultures all around the world. 20 years ago I ended up in the South West of the Algarve, where the amazing nature, ever changing ocean, long beaches, sunny days, relaxed vibe in the air and … it actually was that street dog (named Rusty) that followed me step by step and he completely stole my heart and made me settle, made me ground and not travel anymore.
Algarveyoga
In 2007 I founded Algarveyoga as I felt the urge to share my understanding of yoga and my joy of life. Back at that time I was a pioneer starting a Yoga Retreat company in my area and very soon Algarve Yoga started to grow, to blossom, to shine and, in the meantime we were a strong team of friends working together, inspiring all the beautiful people visiting us for a week and helping them aligning with the flow and vibration of the universe.
Formal Trainings: I studied Physical Education at the ETH University Zurich, Switzerland / Yoga Instructor Sivananda Ashram / Ayurveda Health and Nutrition Consultant taught by Dr. Kamlesh, India / Nutritionist, school of natural heatlh science, Great Britain / Counselling course EGAN Model taught by Dr. Graham Dexter / Tantra Massage Therapist, taught by Peter Littlejohn Cook / Vijnana Yoga Teacher, taught by Teresa Caldas & Orit Sen Gupta / Sexual Councelling Training for Therapists, taught by Vasumati / current study: somatic education for women, taught by Maanee Chrystal, somatic institute for women.
Gratitude to all my teachers (Teresa Caldas for Yoga, Pedro Borges Paz and Fausto Matias for the Dance and Katia Leonardo for the Voice), to all these people out there that I learn and resonate from listening to their podcasts (mainly Joe Dispenza, Gabor Maté, Michaela Boehm, Esther Perel, Padma Aon, Dr. Saida Desllets and Chris Bale). I have a burning interest in connection, relationships, the healing between the feminine and the masculine and intimacy/sexuality. I’m so grateful to my precious friends, current partner, ex partners, family and animals, who are the perfect (not always easiest :-) mirror to my being.
If you like to hear a bit more about how Algarveyoga came together, listen to Linde ten Broek's interview with Diana or listen to the radio SRF ‘die fünfte Schweiz’ (although recorded years ago :-) :
